I just purchased this mouse today. I inserted the wireless USB receiver, and it was recognized instantly on my HP Pavilion wide screen laptop. I also installed the software that came with it, but made no adjustments to the default settings. The software also logged on to the Kensington website and downloaded the latest upgrade.

Customer Review: Have to be within a foot of the receiver
We bought this mouse to use in the bedroom as we watched movies from the PC. It did not work at all from about five foot away from the receiver plugged into the front of the PC (same height as the TV and bed). We used a USB extension and dragged it over the bed to right beside the mouse and still had trouble since you have to basically be on top of the receiver. All that work and you can only move about a foot away from the tip of the receiver before it stops working. If you want a laptop mouse that you will be extreamely close to the plugged in part, this would work great. If you want some freedom from the mouse and PC, look for a different mouse.
Customer Review: Just average
I bought this mouse on sale at Best Buy about 8 months ago. It worked great early on. It still works now but the left button is creaky and slow to respond. The right button which, like most people, I use only half the time still works well. I have another smaller Kensington mouse that I bought about 3 months ago for my laptop. It also works well but it’s showing signs of becoming like its counterpart above. I just wish they would make these mice without the planned obsolescence they do other products. Of course, if these lasted longer they would sell less of them!

Customer Review: Decent, but a PITA
The cursor movements are slightly jumpy and erratic. Replacing the batteries was frustrating, as the latch to open it frequently was jammed and difficult to open. I ended up replacing it simply for that alone.
Customer Review: Sadly missed, good mouse.
I have been using this mouse for over a year now. I have never had any issues with it. I agree with the other reviews that the clicking is somewhat loud, but the overall design is very comfortable. Many of the new laser mice have these odd designs to them, but this mouse has the classic feel that I personally have enjoyed since the ball mice days. It connects easily with a plug and play interface. The mouse has an auto-shutoff, so there is no hassle with the often seen on/off buttons that are annoying. The average battery life with heavy daily use is about 4 to 5 months, but if you are an occasional user it would probably be around a year. Sadly, the cheap batteries I use exploded and killed my mouse, but I am gladly reordering a new one because the comfort level of this mouse is very good. Also, the USB plug in is very small and can be stored inside the mouse for carrying, which is a plus for travel.
